Pets Available for adoption
Our animals come from all different backgrounds. We pull from overcrowded shelters and kill-shelters, take in unclaimed strays and accept owner surrenders. We are the only place in our county that accepts owner surrenders. Doesn't matter their background if we can help, we will.

Who we are
Like Home Animal Foster & Rescue is a
non-profit, no-kill, all volunteer animal rescue dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals in need to loving, forever homes.
Reinforcing our Commitment
What we do
Our animals come to us from many different backgrounds. Some of the places our animals come from are, other animal shelters across the state of Indiana, kill-shelters that have run out of room, unclaimed strays, owner surrenders and sadly those dumped on our property because they know we will care for them.
Once we have an animal, they see a vet to evaluate their health, and receive needed vaccinations. We have them fixed and micro chipped. We also temperament test them with other dogs, cats and children. We work on any behaviors that need fixed, begin basic training if none is started and work with them walking on a leash. We bring them into the home and work with them on how an animal should behave inside and set boundaries. Animals are kept in our home to learn their personality, behaviors and make a better match with animal and future home. This also makes their transition to their forever home easier.
One Step at a Time
How we
do it
Like Home Animal Rescue is a non-profit, 501c3 organization. Which means your donation can be tax deductible. We pay for everything out of our own families pocket unless we have donations. We do not have any government funding or source of support except for donations. Our adoption fees go toward paying most of the vet bills for animal. We are always in need of donations, monetary or supplies.

You can donate through PayPal, directly to our vet (Monon Vet Clinic), mailing a check, through our facebook page or through our account with Lafayette Bank & Trust.
Found Your New Furever Friend
How do I adopt
Our process for adoption is to fill out an adoption application. This tells us information about you and your lifestyle. We try and match animals with similar lifestyles. Once we have your application we are able to check references and ask you any questions we may have. We require that you do a meet and greet with the dog you are wanting to adopt. If you have a fur family member already we require them to meet as well. We aren't looking for immediate friendship but instead obvious signs there may be an issue. We also do a home visit to see the area the dog will have access too. If everything checks out we will then set up a time for you to come and meet with us to go over paperwork, pay adoption fee and then you may take your new family member home.
That does not end our relationship. We are always here as a resource for the life of the pet. We will also check in time to time to see how they are doing and if there is anything you need.

Our goal is to find the best fit for the animal and so just because you are the first person to submit an application does not mean you will be given the opportunity to adopt, we look for many different things before making our decision. Our goal is that the next home these animals have is their last. Thank you for your understanding on this.
